Spent a few nights in Galveston surrounding a cruise. I had Texas BBQ at Billy Bob's in the Fort Worth Stock Yards in Feb and it blew my mind. (They don't do it like that here in Pittsburgh). I wanted to get brisket in Galveston and I found Pennie's ... on YouTube. My wife loves tamales so we had to give it a try. It was fantastic. I got brisket and ribs and they were probably the best I've ever had. We kept raving about it to people who live on the island and a lot of them didn't know about it. Best hidden gem in Galveston. Locals know. Family owned. Tourists need to discover this place. Sure it's take out with limited seating. Call in your order from the beach, and grab the best BBQ on the island on your way back to your rental house. ... Brisket and sausage is off the charts. Barbacoa is really good, and has a big secret. It comes with the absolute best homemade salsa on the island. The flavor stack on the salsa and the perfect spice level is not talked about enough. Order enough for breakfast the next day. Drove from Baytown after watching a video on Tic Tok. We were not Disappointed. Only thing we were to early to try everything. Hand down the best tamales I've had in Texas!!! The best food in Galveston!!

Often my 1st and/or last stop on the island. Tamales are the best I've had, like homemade; brisket & ribs are delicious too especially in the morning fresh out of the smoker!

An absolute MUST when in Galveston. They truly define "Tex Mex" with authentic TX slowsmoked BBQ with an authentic street taco spin. Hits the spot!
